An Update From The Hospital

I want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

What an outpouring of love and support my son, his caregivers, and the hospital medical team have received! I really felt your love. I just wanted to give you a quick update, and then an invitation.

He is doing better…
The inflammation is slowly going away, and he’s beginning to gain some weight back.  Progress is slow, but we’re feeling confident.

And I’m taking care of myself.

Last night I took care of myself by leaving the hospital for a couple hours and enjoying a gathering of friends.  As I left, and the whole time I was gone, I watched the feelings of guilt, worry, anxiety bubble up.  Those familiar feelings of “if I take care of my self, then I’m not taking care of him.”

What medicine are you taking in, daily?  
I really tried to remind myself of how while my son’s injections were steroids, my injection was “fun”.  I am seeing both as appropriate and both needed.  My medicine would help me get better so I could help him get better.

What I am so grateful for today is that in sickness there can be a lot of health.  We’ve had so many visitors, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends… The preciousness of life is tangible here.  You can literally feel it.  Watching the love pour from my daughter to my son is beautiful.. She’s giving the medicine of unconditional love.
My son will recover, and his healing journey will begin.  He's already quite the expert on his condition.  Having a dad as a health coach who has been working on gut-related conditions with him since he was 10 has quite the advantage!  He's now my equal in a lot of ways!  But.... it's time to step-up our game... We've done a lot.... What's next is working with some things like:

  • Fecal Transplants
  • Ozone Therapy
  • SBOs (Soil Based Organisms)
  • Yoga and stress reduction
  • Diet Modification (anti-inflammatory, plant-based, highly digestible)

The way I see him, and any other person with gut issues, is a 7-step process:

  1. Identify harmful organisms (bacteria, yeast) via diagnostic testing
  2. Assess diagnostic testing for microbial sensitivities
  3. Destroy identified pathogens with natural botanicals
  4. Re-populate gut flora
  5. Calm the inflammatory response down
  6. Re-build gut lining with amino acids
  7. Modulate immune system response

This is a multi-year healing project, and the great thing is, he has the rest of his life to discover new things about himself.  What works, what doesn't.

His mindset is very clear. 

"I will make a full-recovery, and not be on medications for the rest of my life, despite what anyone says...."
Healing fascinates me.
What really shifts when we are sick is our point of view.  We become determined.  We become focused.  Being sick is really good at driving us inward.  We find out what's important, and we clarify our purpose in life...  Our Big WHY for what we are doing here in the first place...

I humbly invite you to look deeply inside.  Learn how to change what you've been battling for so long... Is it weight?  Is it addiction?  Is it dis-ease?  You start by someone who cares enough to walk with you through the fire, so to speak.
